Be as independent as you want to be...
As a best-selling author I know that there are elements of the creative process that are invaluable in helping the writing journey.

Sometimes I need peace and quiet, or an environment that inspires, but then also it can be good to talk to fellow writers and swap ideas. La Pause offers all of that if you take it seriously. This isn't a 'holiday holiday' it's a creative environment - and if that's what you're looking for, we can provide it for you. We can also introduce you to the local produce...
Where do you
want to write today?
So why here?
Nestled amidst picturesque views and a serene atmosphere, La Pause offers a haven for you to escape, create, and recharge. At La Pause, you’ll find inspiration in every corner and as much space as you need for your writing project.
Our retreat is designed to provide the perfect balance of relaxation and inspiration for writers of all levels, with desk space in your room, quiet pockets of solitude in two acres of beautiful gardens, and communal areas to swap ideas in. There is a games room, with writing space and a large kitchen/salon where you'll prepare your own meals and swap notes.
Across the Boundary...
While La Pause offers a wonderful space for writers to hone their craft in a supportive and peaceful environment, its location in the Loire Valley means that history and beauty are on your doorstep to provide inspiration and relaxation.

But transport helps...
We're five minutes drive from the historic town of Selles Sur Cher, with its restored château, ancient church and links to Joan of Arc. Five minutes in the opposite direction is Chabris, also on the river, a picturesque moulin offers a quiet place for writing and thinking. Chabris was a major boundary in WW2, and is now full of charm and historic walks. Fifteen minutes drive away is the town of Valençay, whose Napoleonic château played a major role in shaping modern European politics and gastronomy. Forty-five minutes along the A85 is the ancient city of Tours, former capital of France and a must visit... the Clos Lucé in Amboise, Da Vinci's final home...
This is the Loire Valley, you are not short of historic, gastronomic, viticultural or creative inspiration!
